Now are looking into buying a Boardman Pro Mountain Bike from Halfords. Just by chance, walked into Halfords in Canterbury today (Jan 18), and found this amazing bike. Loved it, and ordered one. Halfords service were excellent, many thanks... For those snobs out there, go and pay double for a spesialized bike, that you pay in USA, that's not half as good as the Boardman bicycles... The brazing and profiling on the frame alone look brilliant and when you then gaze over the Ritchey finishing kit and Truvativ Elita compact chainset you would be hard pushed to find a bike like this for £599 which is what they are selling it for. Oh and it's one of the lightest bikes in this price bracket that I've lifted for quite a while, even lighter than the Giant SCR 2.0 Aluminium, or the Specialized Allez model which retail for £545 and £500 respectively. I agree with some of the comments already posted than it's down to luck sometimes what kind of service that you get in Halfords, and I've had my fair share of people who are not in a position to give any meaningful advice whatsoever, but with the New Malden Bikehut store there's a great guy there called Steve who's got 19 years experiece of mending, riding, selling bikes and he's a wonderful reservoir of information/advice. Like someone has already said, don't be snobbish about the Chris Boardman bikes just because it's Halfords, if you can overlook this fact, then you can get a bargain. I've ordered one already and will be picking it up at the end of the month - I can't wait !
