Great film. It is a great shame things have taken a backward step.Bring back the good old days and to those in the corridors of power wake up to the sustainable future of cycling/rail.

I remember well the excursions. So sad that we can not try them again. There are still lanes near where I live where the lane has two strips of tarmac and 3rd strip in the centre of grass.! True. Good memories of an age of happy cycling - I'm glad that I experienced the 50's.

I love Boris. But perhaps not the best advert for bikes. Ken doesn't ride but he's done more for cyclists than almost any other individual I can think of. Vote for Green Ken!

Well, isnt that amazing. I always said the old days were the best! I think we've got to really fight to get bikes back onto the train. Vote for Boris in the Mayor for London! It might be a good start!

A superb piece of cycling history showing people having fun on bikes. The rail networks of today need to be a lot more proactive in support of cycling to encourage people to use their bikes. My experience to date has been that trains offer a very limited capacity for bikes today!

Special trains are laid on for the return leg of the yearly London - Brighton cycle ride. (at least they were 5 years ago when I did the event). Every second or third carriage is used as a bike park. Although the modern cramped passenger conditions on it don't match the apparently civilised conditions shown in the film!
