Its nice to see roadies shocked, not that it takes much tbh. Presumably without a triple clamp fork the brake would kill the fork? Im still a bit dubious about the disk brakes, ceramic coated! Bit ott perhaps.. i remember mountainbike frames breaking because of the forces exerted by disc brakes.. in fairness they wern’t built by an F1 firm, so will be interesting to see how the bikes fair.

Sorry - Can’t say too much, but please don’t fret about the mechanical aspects of the design. Also press release shots don’t show very much at this stage. There are lots of surprises in store.

Pad material? Er, definitely not cork.

…firstly, i would agree that f1 drivers are fit…think constant g-loaded isometrics while racing, facilitated by high intensity cardio-vascular training outside the car…
…& yes, the biometric data would be interesting in regard to that…
…but why the triple clamp headset w/ much smaller than usual bearings at such a critical structural juncture…
…if lateral strength is such a concern, then why not shaped top & in particular down tubes…a lot of structural analysis has been done in this area & the factor 001’s downtube seems counter-intuitive by comparison…
…while conventional carbon-rim caliper brakes use a cork composite brakepad, the dynamic of a small carbon disc would be different, so i’m wondering what pad material is used here…

…finally, hey cc, after mr lewis’ first go round, he deserves one but alonso doesn’t get one cuz he whined too much during the season…

I think some people here are missing the point. This is not a ‘racing bike’ for club events and Sunday morning chain-gangs, but a road oriented training platform with fully integrated electronic systems processing unrivalled amounts of data. This will all beome very clear when the full electronic and mechanical design specs are released closer to the launch. Oh, and F1 drivers are quite fit BTW - Fitter than me anyhow!

Looks like copy of my BMC Pro Machine. Even with full record and Lightweight Obies, it’s still well under $10,000 USD. The01 factor is quite ugly IMHO.

Lastly, F1 drivers are NOT athletes. They’re just F1 drivers. As a Cat1 racer, I bet I could drop any of the these guys who are fast only in a car.
