I live in Brazil, state Espirito Santo capital Vitoria. I’m being riding bikes all my life, I have 30 years old and I was BMX state champion a long time ago. I just arrived from Europe and there I had a giant and my friend had the trek 4300 I tried and I feel very comfortable at the frame everything was great in the bike so I said I will buy one trek when I got to brazil in few weeks. So I looked in the TREKbikes.com and I found the only TREK dealer in my city. So I payed 1750 reais it is 906 us dollars for the trek 4300, good money comparing that in USA IS HALF of price that I paid in brazil. So I paid in 08/17 and is almost one month that I have no bike, I’m just awaiting 26 days until now for get this MTB TREK 4300. so I don’t know if the problem is logistics or if they don’t care about a simple costumer that don’t wanna Brazilians bikes or other BRAND , but I paid 906 usd for a TREK 4300 and I wanna this bike. So how long I have to await for get the bike that I paid for. I already lost a good MTB MARATON because this awaiting for the TREK bike. Unfortunately the large majority of American's are already to out of shape to even seriously consider the bicycle as a serious alternative to motor vehicle transportation. Yes, I support the concept but advocacy is not going to create a healthier more athletically able cycling populace. Further, the design of our urban and suburban centers needs serious change to encourage the cyclist as shops are too huge, too far, and poorly suited to handle the daily shopper. Everything is about BIG, MORE, and not about a few, small, and frequent as would be required for the bicycle based shopper. What you may see is a migration to E-Bikes. Those electric motor assisted commuter bikes now equipped with racks and panniers to better support the needs of our sedentary masses. For older Bike Buffs, that have given up on evangelising, this must sound like sweet bells in the ears.
