Birthday boy loves bikes
Prime Minister Gordon Brown wanted to celebrate his first year in office with a bang, so he spent his official anniversary with Britain’s golden track stars.
Number 10 Downing Street reports: “PM has met Bradley Wiggins, Lucy Pendleton and other members of the GB cycling team at their practice session at the Manchester Velodrome.”
That’s Victoria Pendleton, but never mind.
Brown is up on bikes at the moment, clearly angling for a ‘Cameron’ rub-off.
Yesterday he said:
“The place of cycling in our society is set to grow, and I am committed to doing everything possible to encourage that.”
